Our Neighbourhood Plan (NP) will set out the vision for our parish and its planning policies for the use and development of land within our area. It provides an opportunity for our community to have an increased ability to influence planning within our area.
The objective is to create a plan where our community chooses where we want new homes, retail units, offices and community facilities to be built; to have our say on how many and what those new buildings should look like; to identify what infrastructure should be provided; and to support the granting of planning permissions for the new buildings we want to see go ahead.
Neighbourhood planning provides a powerful set of tools for local people to plan for the types of development to meet our community’s needs, where the ambitions of our neighbourhood is aligned with the strategic needs and priorities of the wider local area.
The NP we will produce, will support the delivery of strategic policies set out in South Gloucestershire Council’s Local Plan and will shape and direct development that is outside of those strategic policies. Within this broad context, the specific planning topics that our NP will cover, is for our local community to determine.
In summary, producing an NP will give us direct power to develop a shared vision for our neighbourhood and shape the development and growth of our immediate local area.
